Now is the time to celebrate the achievement and contribution of individuals and community organisations, with nominations for the 2018 Federation Council Australia Day Awards opening on Monday 6 November.

Federation Council is encouraging residents to nominate those who have made a difference in the community for one of the six award categories available, including Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year.

The Citizen of the Year Award will recognise one outstanding person that has contributed significantly to the wellbeing of the Federation Council.

The Young Citizen of the Year category is an opportunity to celebrate the contribution that young people make to the community.

Local Achiever Awards will enable each town and village to recognise their local heroes, by nominating individuals or groups who have volunteered their time at a local community level.

Other categories open as part of the Australia Day award program include Community Project of the Year and Community Event of the Year.

Schools within the Federation Council area will also be invited to nominate two students who have been outstanding achievers in 2017 in either their academic or sporting fields.
