Have your say on the Corowa Foreshore & Morris Park Structure Masterplan – a multifaceted masterplan project that has been undertaken to provide Council and the community with a framework that will guide opportunity, business planning and modeling in respect to the growth of our region and ensure together we can capitalize on our unique foreshore assets.

The draft structure plans for the Corowa foreshore and surrounds and Morris Park are the outcome of a planning process involving engagement with councillors, management and staff of Federation Council and key stakeholders including representatives of locally based sporting clubs and the local land councils, the Corowa Business Chamber and Corowa Landcare.

The plans have been prepared to achieve the following key outcomes:

  • Improve recognition and accessibility to the Corowa foreshore;
  • Improve the connection between key facilities, the foreshore and the town centre;
  • Improve the lagoon area to remove user conflicts and provide improved amenities;
  • Vastly increase use and visitation to the Corowa foreshore;
  • Improve the health and wellbeing of the local community; and
  • Support local economic growth.

To achieve these outcomes, early engagement within the community was imperative. Following two rounds of consultation, plans were developed in response to feedback from the local community and sporting groups with the purpose to generate increased visitation to Corowa.

The Corowa foreshore and Morris Park were broken into distinct precincts to provide a detailed analysis of the proposed upgrades. While the works program included in the overall structure plan tables represents a substantial amount of work, the projects are proposed to be undertaken in stages (see section 6.2) with consideration given to the approvals process, funding and community priority.

Implementation of the structure plans will generate ongoing social, environmental and economic benefits to Corowa – stimulating an active lifestyle, attracting greater tourism, and supporting local businesses and the local economy as a whole.

The plans will now be placed on exhibition to seek feedback from the community. Council will then consider the outcomes of the community consultation before adopting the final plans to guide the long-term strategic development of the Corowa foreshore and Morris Park.
