Why we’re engaging – Future Federation 2023-2024
In line with our Community Engagement Strategy and the Local Government Act 1993, we are engaging with our community to seek feedback to inform the development of our Draft Delivery Program / Operational Plan and Budget 2023-2024.
Our combined Delivery Program and Annual Operational Plan is an important document that sets out Council’s action plan for achieving the community priorities outlined in the Community Strategic Plan (CSP). It identifies the projects, programs and activities that council will conduct to achieve the commitments of the Delivery Program. This is supported by the Annual Budget which outlines how we will fund the delivery of services and projects to our community. It funds services like managing waste, maintaining our infrastructure, community facilities and parks, operating our libraries, events and services to people at all stages of life. This is ‘Future Federation 2023-2024’.
What we hope to achieve
Feedback collected during this period will shape the development of the actions and initiatives contained in next year’s plan and annual budget. We hope to deliver a plan within our financial capability that not only meets the needs of our community, but strengthens it. Once developed, the draft plans will be presented to the community for further feedback in May 2023. These are our plans, to support Future Federation 2023-2024.
Background
Similar to any household budget, there are essentials and there are constraints. Unfortunately, we can’t buy everything we want but community feedback is valuable in creating change and to help shape Future Federation 2023-2024.
Much of our upcoming budget is committed to funding services, programs and infrastructure projects that were identified through the development of the Community Strategic Plan, and Council’s Long Term Financial Plan with you, our community. Through the engagement that informed the development of these plans, you told us what's important to you. Now we want to know how you think we should prioritise our actions and associated budget over the coming year as we continue to deliver on those plans.
Working with you to identify priorities will allow Council to make important financial decisions, balance current and future needs, and ensure we are financially sustainable well into the future. This is our future, and we want to plan it with you – have your say today on Future Federation.

This engagement opportunity is open from Tuesday, March 7 to Monday, April 3 2023.
Anyone who lives, works, studies or invests in Federation Council or visits our region and uses Council facilities or accesses our services, is invited to review the information provided, ask questions and provide feedback during this time.

Future Federation - Draft Delivery program / Operational Plan and Budget 2023-2024 Stage 1 – This engagement opportunity is asking for your feedback in relation to your priorities and is open for public comment from Tuesday, March 7 to Monday, April 3 2023.
Future Federation - Engagement Feedback Considered – Feedback will be reviewed and considered as draft plans for 2023-2024 are further developed.
April Council Meeting – The 2023-2024 Draft Delivery Program and Budget will be presented to Council for endorsement for public exhibition on Monday, April 24, 2023.
Future Federation - Draft Delivery Program / Operational Plan and Budget 2023-2024 Stage 2 – Have your say on Future Federation - Draft Delivery Program and Budget. This engagement opportunity is asking for your feedback and is open for public comment from Wednesday, April 26 2023 to Wednesday, May 24 2023. A series of town meetings, pop-up and drop-in sessions will be held throughout this period to engage with our community.
