All Abilities Adventure Playground
The $1.2 million All Abilities Adventure Playground at Purtle Park in Mulwala will be a significant development for the Federation Council area. It will create a landmark community facility aimed at drawing visitors and families to the region.
The creation of the adventure playground containing challenging play equipment for babies through to teens will be the centrepiece, surrounded by new amenities, a shade structure, footpaths, seating and landscaping.
Proposed to be built at Purtle Park, the project will require the removal of the existing car park and boat ramp. The family friendly area will contain a free-standing play system that will quite literally ‘reach to the skies’, with children able to move between Sky Cabins along swaying paths 8m above the ground.
$855,650 in funds has been confirmed by Council for the playground, however further funds are needed to support the installation of a new toilet block and parking.
An application for funding will be made by Council through the Stronger Country Communities program for the new toilet block which will provide disabled access and baby change facilities.
This project is supported by the Community Playground Group of Yarrawonga Mulwala Development Inc. who have raised $350,000 towards making the project a reality.
A significant level of planning and detailed design is required for the overall space – inclusive of car parking and amenities.
Council will appoint a project manager to oversee this project and develop detailed timelines, which will then be communicated to the community.
