Young people in Urana will benefit from an exciting project to develop a youth friendly space in Anna Street, on the vacant land next to the Soldiers Memorial Hall.
The project has been a key priority for the community for some time and a recent allocation of funding from the Stronger Communities Program has enabled the project to get underway.
Soil issues at the site required the original project scope to be revised, however following recent consultation with the community, an alternative proposal has been finalised and achieves a good outcome within the available budget.
The project includes a basketball slab and ring, modular skate system, shelter and landscaping of the site to create a welcoming and vibrant space.
Council is currently in the process of engaging contractors to complete the project. Timings will be dependent on weather and the availability of various contractors.
The site will be closed to the public while the works are underway and signage will soon be in place to communicate this information to residents and visitors.
