RSL Park Playground Upgrade
Corowa’s youngest residents had their say on the draft concept plans for the new play space at RSL Park. Some great feedback was received and this was incorporated into the final playground design which can be found here(PDF, 6MB).
The selected equipment caters for a broad age group, with a double flying fox and 6m skyclimber expected to be popular additions. Other equipment included as part of the design is a steam train play unit, spinner, nest swing and slides.
The open space at the park was retained to allow room for other activities that were identified as important by children who completed a survey.
Feature rocks and plantings will be further integrated into the design and will add an another dimension to the play space in the future. The new play space layout also improves the connection between the playground and the railway station, providing improved access to the public toilets.
The Corowa RSL Club have maintained the RSL gardens for many years as a valuable community service and in addition to this, attributed a generous financial contribution towards the new RSL park playground to add to the funding of $115,451 from the Major Projects Fund.
Construction is now complete and the RSL Park is now open to the public to enjoy this exciting new play space!
An official opening of the new play space will be held in early 2018.
