Federation Council invites you to pay tribute to someone who makes you proud to be an Australian, that someone who has given outstanding service to the community. Nominate them for a Federation Council Australia Day Award.

NOMINATIONS are now open for 2020 Australia Day Awards, which recognise and celebrate people, community organisations, projects and events in the Federation Council area. Council is calling on all communities to make a special effort, including Community Committees and other organisations, to nominate their local champions and events.

Federation Council Mayor, Cr Pat Bourke said “Council is calling on all in support of our many communities, to help build on this great event every year. Council recognises that many communities also host their own local events, and would also encourage attendance at the Federation Council event, from right across the Council area, and hope to receive many nominations. By building on this, we can continue to foster a Council-wide approach to celebrating our National Day, and honouring our local achievers. I know that with the strong support of the community, we can achieve this.”

Federation Council Deputy Mayor, Cr Shaun Whitechurch said “It’s the one day that every Australian of any age can come to together to celebrate the great country we live in." The awards honour citizens of the Federation Council who have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.
