Council is pleased to announce that it will benefit from $14,000 of grant funding under the NSW Government Heritage Grants Program.

Member for Albury, Justin Clancy this week announced the exciting news and said these grants will help local communities across Albury to know, value and care for their heritage.

“Our heritage is important to who we are and local communities play an important role in maintaining heritage at a local level,” Mr Clancy said.

The 2019-21 NSW grants saw $5.8 million awarded to 241 projects statewide across three categories: Aboriginal Cultural Heritage, Caring for State Heritage and Community Heritage.

NSW Minister for Heritage, Don Harwin said protecting local heritage was an important step towards celebrating NSW’s history as a whole and maintaining a physical record of the past.

“Across NSW the Government is providing support for local heritage and indigenous groups, to protecting important heritage items ensuring communities maintain connection with their history,” he said.

Federation Council General Manager Adrian Butler said Council is very pleased to receive this funding that combined with council funding, allows Council to continue to offer heritage services to our community via our Heritage Advisor.

“Council along with the community places a high value on heritage items and looks forward to continuing on with our heritage advisory services and also the local heritage fund program in 2019/2020,” Mr Butler said.

“Council would like to thank the NSW Government for their support.”
