Council’s direction recognised

As part of continuous improvements across the whole organisation, Federation Council’s progressive direction has been formally recognised at the NSW Local Government NSW Water Management Conference at Dubbo recently.
The Council is celebrating after being awarded runners up in the Sam Samra Annual Award for Most Improved Large Sewerage Service Provider over the last ten years in regional NSW.
The five winners were determined by rigorous analysis of a decade of data recorded in the NSW Water Supply & Sewerage Performance Monitoring Reports.
Federation Council General Manager Chris Gillard said Council was honoured to receive this award.
“Council is thrilled to receive this recognition for its water & sewerage practices,” Mr Gillard said.
“Earning this award reflects that the organisation is constantly improving and striving to achieve.
“I would like to take this opportunity to formally congratulate all staff on the services they provide and the award winning growth and innovation that results.”
The Sam Samra annual Award has been established as a memorial and acknowledgement of the late Sam Samra’s long term contribution, passion and dedication to the water industry. Sam was a great ally of local water utilities in NSW which benefitted from his commitment over a 50 year period.
Sam’s legacy is unlikely to be surpassed and it has many aspects.
One of the most enduring aspects is performance benchmarking in NSW and on a national level.
Sam was well known for his extensive knowledge and attention to detail and he was highly regarded at the local, state and national levels for his work on performance monitoring and improvement.
It is very fitting that the award in his name uses the performance monitoring data to identify the most improved local water utilities over the past 10 years in 4 categories:
- small ( < 5,000 connected properties) local water utilities, water supply
- small ( < 5,000 connected properties) local water utilities, sewerage
- large ( > 5,000 connected properties) local water utilities, water supply
- large ( > 5,000 connected properties) local water utilities, sewerage
