Festival of Fun for Seniors registrations open soon

From Morundah to Mulwala, Federation Council’s senior residents are invited to hit the road and register for this year’s Festival of Fun for Seniors event.
To celebrate the 2021 NSW Seniors Festival, Federation Council’s Festival of Fun for Seniors will run from Monday, April 12 – Thursday April 22 and includes five events staged across the Council area. This year’s festival focuses on doing what comes naturally in the quest to enjoy life and age well.
Federation Council Mayor, Cr Patrick Bourke said Council was looking forward to hosting another successful Festival of Fun for Seniors event.
“The fun that has had at this much loved event each year is growing each time,” he said.
“I know I speak on behalf of all our Councillors when I say how much we are looking forward to seeing our seniors attend and sharing a laugh and having a great time together as a community.”
The following events will be on offer throughout the five day Festival of Fun for Seniors event:
ClubMulwala’s Staying Alive with CPR
Monday, April 12 – 11 am to 1:30 pm.
Get your groove on at ClubMulwala’s Staying Alive with CPR event featuring Paul Vitullo performing a variety of hits from 50’s chart toppers to modern day melodies. Sit back, relax and enjoy lunch before you hit the floor for some social distancing dancing!
Be there for your chance to win a 2 night stay at ClubMulwala’s Resort or vouchers to the club.
Federation Fashion Fiesta
Wednesday, April 14 – 10 am to 12 pm.
Sequins, pearls and spandex will be on show as seniors hit the Federation Fashion Fiesta runway to model the latest in op shop fashion. Guests will be treated to a delicious morning tea at the Savernake School of Arts Hall as they listen to a member of the Corowa and District Boomerang Bags discussing their current initiatives and the benefits of joining a group and connecting with their community. Guests are encouraged to wear their own op shop outfit with prizes on offer.
Ageing Well Lunch
Sunday, April 18 – 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.
Poets have been putting pen to paper and salivating over the wonders of the culinary world for centuries. Who hasn’t wanted to sing the praises of that perfect peach or your Mum’s homemade Spaghetti Bolognese that no one else could ever surpass? Sit back and enjoy a supper of delectable poems as you munch on a two-course sit down lunch at the Paradise Palladium Theatre in Morundah.
Filial Piety Chinese Celebration
Tuesday, April 20 – 11 am to 1 pm.
"The old are the precious gems in the centre of the household." - Chinese proverb.
Join us in Howlong as Council shows filial piety (honour and respect) to our senior residents. Filial Piety will begin with Tai Chi for seniors, followed by a Chinese banquet and celebration at the Howlong Golf Resort.

Crack into Life
Thursday, April 22 – 10.30 am to 1pm.
Croquet has held its own against golf and tennis in Australia since 1880. Men and women have been knocking their opponent's bowl in Corowa since 1904. The Country Women's Association has been whipping up scones and fighting for country women's rights since 1922.
Eighty years later in 2002, Jackerjack hit the cinemas which saw an epic battle where young meets old, greed meets good and people rise to the occasion in extraordinary circumstances.
Nearly twenty years later we navigated the COVID pandemic and showed that our communities will long outlive this period of disruption.
Join us at Crack into Ageing and celebrate community-led activities with a fun-packed morning including the screening of Crackerjack, a chance to try lawn bowls or croquet, and a delicious lunch prepared by the Corowa CWA branch.
Jeremy Carr from Back on Track Physiotherapy will also be there to pass on information about the Vitality Passport Program.
TRANSPORT
Bus transport is available to and from each event, or you may choose to make your own way there. Buses will run from Corowa, Howlong, Mulwala, Oaklands and Urana. If an event is in your town you will need to make your own arrangements.
BOOKINGS
Events and transport are free to residents of the Federation Council Local Government Area aged over 60 years. Due to COVID 19 social distancing restrictions in venues and the popularity of the festival we ask that you only book a maximum of two events per person and no large group bookings.
