Join Federation Council and celebrate Australia Day

Residents, friends, family and visitors are invited to celebrate everything that’s great about living in Australia at this year’s Australia Day celebrations, to be held at the Mulwala Water Ski Club from 9:00 am on Saturday 26 January.

Federation Council in partnership with the Mulwala Ski Club and Mulwala Progress Association will host this years Australia Day Celebration at the Mulwala Water Ski Club.

Australia Day Ambassador, Jeremy Jones AM will be in attendance on the day. Jeremy was the 2016 winner of the NSW Government's Stepan Kerkyasharian Medal for promoting Community Harmony, the winner of the 2007 Australian Human Rights Medal, is a Member of the Order of Australia (conferred in 2005) and has participated in dialogues and conferences on human rights issues in 30 countries. A fifth-generation Australian, he is a graduate of the University of Sydney, majoring in History and Government.

Federation Council Mayor Pat Bourke said Council is looking forward to welcoming Jeremy as part of the day celebrations in Mulwala.

"We are honoured to have Jeremy attend our special Australia Day activities, as well as assist with presenting awards during the official ceremonies," he said.

"Australia Day is so important to our communities. It’s a time to stop and reflect on what we have achieved and what we can proud of.

"The Mulwala Water Ski Club has partnered with Federation Council to ensure there is lots planned for the whole family and we encourage everyone to come along and be part of the fun." 

EVENT DETAILS

When:  Saturday 26 January 2019 from 9:00am for a 9:30am start.

Location: Mulwala Water Ski Club, Melbourne Street, Mulwala.

Activities:

  • Presentation of Federation Council’s 2019 Australia Day Awards.
  • Official Ceremony including Welcome to the Country, National Anthem and Ambassador Address.
  • Family fun entertainment hosted by the Mulwala Water Ski Club and Mulwala Progress Association during and after the official ceremony. From 12:30pm onwards a entry fee applies; $5 entry per person, $2 for children 6 years and under.
