Youth Week Festivities to provide fun for all

Federation Youth Council is set to host a series of events across the Council area for this year’s 2021 NSW Youth Week.

NSW Youth week is scheduled for April 16 – April 24. Federation Youth Councillors will begin Youth celebrations early on Saturday, April 10 by launching with a photography workshop in Memorial Hall, Corowa, run by local photographer, Sue Davis.    

Federation Youth Council Mayor Maxim Blockley said the Youth Council are looking to host a range of events that can give local youth and families’ fun and engaging opportunities to enjoy over the school holidays.

“It is such a positive outcome to be able to host a range of Covid Safe events for Youth Week this year,” Youth Council Mayor Maxim Blockley said.

“We are so excited to get back out into the community and have everyone together, having fun and supporting each other.”

Proposed Youth Week Festivities include:          

  • Saturday, April 10: Capturing the Light and Sunset, photography workshop with Sue Davis. Held from 5pm- 8pm.
  • Sunday, April 18: Mulwala Colour Run at Lonsdale Reserve, featuring colour, live music and a free BBQ by Mulwala Football and Netball Club. Held from 11am – 2pm.
  • Wednesday, April 21: Sports Day Round Robin at Oaklands Central School, featuring soccer, hockey, student stalls and a free BBQ. A great opportunity to bring together all Federation students in a social, Covid-safe fun day. 
  • Saturday, April 24: Skate Workshops at Lowe Square Skatepark, Howlong hosted by the skating professionals originally hailing from the riverine, The TOTEM Collective. This will feature beginners to the more experienced skater’s classes, led by TOTEMS skateboard professionals. Held from 10am – 2pm.

Youth Fest 2021 will be a great way to re-engage our youth and residents in a fun, active and social environment this year. All events are Covid safe and require participants to pre-register for each event.
