Businesses and persons providing hairdressing, barber, beauty, body piercing and tattooing services are inspected by local council’s to ensure they operate in a hygienic manner and the risk of skin infections and blood-borne disease is reduced.
Local food businesses that serve food to the public are regulated by Federation Council and/or the NSW Food Authority to ensure the food they are preparing and selling is safe for consumption. It is important that food businesses maintain good hygiene practices to avoid illness and food poisoning outbreaks.
Council is implementing a new Strategy to reduce the public health and environmental risks posed by on-site sewage management systems in our community. Onsite sewage management systems (such as septics) process wastewater generated from the household where the property is not connected to Council’s reticulated sewerage system.
Federation Council regularly responds to complaints about pollution incidences, environmental nuisances, animal management and public health issues arising from residential, commercial or industrial properties.
