Staying connected and engaged to age well means supporting the right of older people to make their own decisions, with options for supported decision-making if needed, providing clear, respectful, and accessible information to help people understand their rights and make informed choices and encouraging self-advocacy to ensure individual needs and feelings are expressed and respected.
Federation Council believes all people have a right to access information in order to make informed decisions. For this people need to be able to choose how and when they access information and the information needs to be provided in a variety of ways.
Federation Council, in collaboration with the Ageing Well Advisory Committee has developed an Age-Friendly Engagement and Communication Guide as part of its ongoing commitment to genuine community engagement.
The Federation Ageing Well Strategy 2026-2030, has been developed to provide strategic direction so that we can ensure we are an age friendly place that meets the needs of the community, a place where people feel valued, supported, and connected as they age.
