Capital Works Program Update - August 2022

Council has an ongoing program of capital works and upgrades to buildings, parks, playgrounds, and roads across the Federation Council Region. The following activities were undertaken in August 2022 by Federation Council’s Works teams.
- John Street Drainage: Commence works including: Gordon Street - removal & replacement of kerb & gutter, replace & upsize drainage pits & pipes. Install large box culvert in cycleway adjacent to Corowa Water Filtration Plant, upsize culvert at Whitehead Street Wetlands outfall to a new triple cell box culvert. Tabledrain from Gordon Street to wetlands will be upsized after Sloanes Froglet breeding season (weather and staff numbers permitting).
- Corowa – Mulwala Cycleway: Works on hold due to wet weather, lack of staff and waiting for contractor to finish Boardwalk at Drain Lane so that the laying of pavement either side of Boardwalk can be completed. Works to recommence early September (weather permitting).
- Maintenance Grading Program Roads graded in August: Warmatta Road, Pine Grove Road, Lamarra Road, Rose View Road, Little Bull Plain Road. Mulwala urban streets - Lewis Street, Ward Street, Slattery Street. Leahy’s Road, Wellers Gap Road, Weule Lane. Howlong urban streets – Jude Street, Martin Street, Larmer Street, Townsend Street, Read Street, East Street, Orchard Street, Ashford Road, Lowe Square. Bolinda Glen Road, Uralla Road, Sandford Road, Warragoon Siding Road, Water Bag Lane, Rennie Oval. Daysdale Walbundrie Road and Rand area, Daysdale and surrounds.
- Gravel Re-sheeting Program Commenced: Macartneys Road & Mahonga Lane completed. Warmatta Road in progress.
- Tabledrain Maintenance: No tabledrain work done as drains are too wet for plant to work in.
- Sealed Roads: Pothole repairs on sealed urban and rural roads with the Corowa based Flocon patching truck and the Urana based Jetmaster patching truck.
- Customer Requests Numerous Customer Requests responded to for drainage, potholes, signs and footpaths, however some unable to be acted on due to lack of staff numbers or wet weather.
- Heavy Trucks: Cart and spread gravel for Gravel Re-sheeting Program. Cart excess spoil to Corowa & Howlong Landfills for cover & capping. Carting of aggregate for patching trucks.
- Future Works: Maintenance Grading Program – Mulwala – Savernake area. Gravel re-sheeting: Warmatta Road. Maintenance Grading Program – Balldale area. Maintenance Grading Program – areas west of Corowa. Corowa-Mulwala cycleway. Maintenance Grading Program – Boree Creek, Morundah and Oaklands areas.
