Drinking Water Quality Monitoring
Federation Council is dedicated to providing safe, high quality and reliable drinking water to our local communities. The primary source for the water supplies serving Corowa, Howlong and Mulwala is the iconic Murray River.
Because raw river water quality can change due to seasonal conditions, weather events and natural environmental factors, it undergoes rigorous processing before it ever reaches your tap.
To ensure our water meets strict public health standards, Council operates specialised water treatment plants located in Corowa, Howlong and Mulwala. These local facilities utilise modern filtration, disinfection and treatment technologies specifically tailored to process the raw water drawn from the Murray River. Our operational teams conduct regular, comprehensive testing schedules to monitor for physical, chemical and microbiological characteristics.
Our water supplies are strictly managed to comply with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG), protecting public health and ensuring peace of mind for all residents.
