Have your Say on how your rate increase for 2026/27 is applied next financial year!
For the 2026/27 financial year, Council has received approval from the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal *(IPART) to increase its total general rates income.
- The Approved Increase: Total general rates income is recommended to increase by 11.8%.
- The Context: This is the final year of the current Special Rate Variation (SRV) plan.
- The Goal: This variation was applied for in February 2025 to support Council's long-term financial sustainability and to enable investment in roads, drainage and buildings.
- Total Revenue Cap: With this increase, Council’s total general rate income is strictly regulated and capped at $17,258,701 for the 2026/27 year.
Within the Federation Council Revenue Policy 2026-2027 currently out on exhibition, there are four proposed options for how rates will be distributed across the community next financial year. These options do not change the total amount of money Council can collect, but they do change how much of your bill is a fixed (Base Rate) versus how much is based on your property's land value (Ad Valorem).
Council has developed the below poll question to provide residents with the opportunity to indicate their preferred option.
Council is inviting residents to review the draft policy and provide any feedback by 5pm, Wednesday 27 May, 2026
