Recreation Team Activities

  • Corowa Lawn Cemetery (South) Tree Planting: The Presentation Team have prepared the area for planting along with the installation of steel rings for visual appearance. The advanced deciduous trees were locally source with a grower in our region. The trees were grown in an air pruned system. The air pruning creates a stronger, viable root system which enables lateral roots to develop and establish structurally when transplanted. The dense root system is able to gather an immediate source of nutrients to foster vigorous growth and enable the tree to quickly establish itself when planted. The specific tree species selected for the avenue were selected as they are proven in our climate and soil types. Species selection are: Autumn Blaze (Acer x freeman) and Sawtooth Oak (Quercus acutissima). Both species will provide great colour, structure and will be long term planting for the future.

Road Safety Updates

  • Council has been successful in securing two grants in the Get NSW Active program for 2025/26. The funding received will be for two new footpaths; one in Hawkins Street Howlong, between Townsend and Read Streets. The other in John Street, Corowa behind St Mary’s Primary school. These works will commence later this year.
