Capital Works Program Update - March 2022

Council has an ongoing program of capital works and upgrades to buildings, parks, playgrounds and roads across the Federation Council Region. The following activities were undertaken in March 2022 by Federation Council’s Works teams.

FLR Program - Traffic Facilities Continue upgrade/replacement of signs & guideposts in urban streets and rural roads throughout Federation Council.

Corowa – Mulwala Cycleway Resume laying of approx. 12km of gravel pavement from Kyffins Road to Drain Lane. Seal 10km of pavement from Croppers Lane to Freyers Road.

Rural Roads Slashing Balldale road, Redlands road, Corowa Aerodrome.

Corowa Aerodrome – Regional Airports Program round 2 Grant - Runway 05/23 Works undertaken include replacement of old iron drainage pipes under runway and outfalls. Re-sealing runway with 7mm stone and S35E bitumen. New line marking of Centreline, Edge lines, Thresholds and Designators according to the MOS 139.

• Balldale Road Step 2 memo underway for vegetation removal for road upgrade and widening.
• Daysdale Curves Southern approach pavement finished ready for final trim and seal (booked 6 April 2022 6,700m2 ). Daysdale Walbundrie road batters cut to level. Side track constructed at Coreen Creek culvert.
• Cullivel Road Reconstruction works on Cullivel road continuing.
• Corowa Flood/Storm Event 30 January Restoration and repair of roads and tabledrains north of Corowa - Jamiesons Road, Naughtins Road, Corona Road.
• Maintenance Grading Program Roads graded in March. Tom Roberts road, Rosemount road, Patterson’s road, Summerglen road (done by contractors) Erindale road.
• Tabledrain Maintenance Tabledrain Maintenance on sealed and unsealed roads in urban and rural areas.
• Sealed Roads Pothole repairs on sealed urban and rural roads with the Corowa based Flocon patching truck and the Urana based Jetmaster patching truck.
• Quarries Balldale – Continue crushing of 45,000 tonnes for Capital Works Program.
• Proposed Works - Completion of Corowa Aerodrome drainage upgrade and John Street drainage works.
