Capital Works Projects Update - September 2021

Council has an ongoing program of capital works and upgrades to buildings, parks, playgrounds and roads across the Federation Council Region.

The following activities were undertaken within the month of September 2021 by Federation Council’s Works teams:

  • Fixing Local Roads Program – Traffic Facilities: Continue audit of signs & guideposts for upgrade/replacement in urban streets and rural roads throughout Federation Council. Continue replacement program of signs & guideposts.
  • Daysdale S Bends: In winter lockdown.
  • Corowa – Mulwala Cycleway: Works on hold due to wet weather.
  • Spring Drive MR314 Culvert Replacement Program: In conjunction with Transport for NSW, 2x access culverts on Spring Drive. Park access seg240 ch0.81 SB there is a small culvert approx. 300mm but damaged replaced with new 3 x 375RCP and sloped headwalls and drain cleaned out and access reformed. Park access seg250 ch0.59 SB no culverts in access 3 x 375 RCP with sloped headwalls be installed and drain cleaned out to relive ponding issue. Access to be reformed.
  • FCR Program Cullivel Road: Clearing and grubbing work has commenced on this project with earthworks due to follow.
  • Maintenance Grading Program: Maintenance Grading Program has continued where possible. Many roads are unable to be graded due to the amount of rainfall resulting in water laying in potholes and table drains. Tom Roberts Road, Fergusons Road, Boiling Down Lane, Glenlea Road, Well Lane, Waverley Road, Filliponis Road, Hunters Road, Almond Lane, Martins Road, Federation Avenue lane way, Nagles Road, Boomerang Road, Kardinia Road, Telephone Lane, Darcy’s Road, Narrow Plains Road. Doctors Road including gravel resheeting of 1.00Km section adjacent to bridge, Boree Creek Township, Barragunda Road, Dunleavy’s Road, Faithful Road.
  • Tabledrain Maintenance: Tabledrain Maintenance on sealed and unsealed roads in urban and rural areas.
  • Sealed Roads: Pothole repairs – due to the high rainfall during winter, many potholes/defects are appearing on the sealed road network. Two extra patching trucks (1 Urana 1 Corowa) have been made up in house to get on top of the numerous defects. We have engaged a Jet patcher from a private company and Jerilderie one day a fortnight to help out in the north to assist in the catch up off these works.
  • Roadside Shoulder Slashing: Is continuing on rural sealed roads – Redlands Road, Freyers Road and Spring Drive at Kyffins and start on the intersection slashing of Redlands and Skehans, Hudson, Freyers and Spring Drive. Jerilderie Road, Federation Way North, Morundah Township and surrounds.
  • COVID-19 - Work Crews continue with high productivity output with some changes to work methods.
  • Sundry Gang FLR Program Traffic Facilities in conjunction with Construction teams, various Customer Requests. Footpath repairs. Traffic control for construction crews & contractors where required.
  • Heavy Trucks - Support Grader Gangs & Construction Gangs on maintenance - hauling spoil, gravel, and sand.
  • Boree Creek Road – Gravel resheeting/patching and hold down seal.
