The largest residential subdivision ever proposed for Corowa is the subject of a development application before Federation Council.

The application seeks approval for a residential subdivision of land comprising a total of 335 lots, removal of vegetation and demolition of existing buildings on the property.

The proposal would also create three new reserves within the development area for drainage and public open space.

The development application, recently on public exhibition, allowed for the community to have the opportunity to provide feedback on the development. Council received 112 submissions throughout this period.

Federation Council General Manager Adrian Butler said Council is assessing this application, including reviewing all submissions received.

“Due to the matters identified by the assessment officer, including matters raised from internal Council referrals, agency referrals, and public submissions Council is negotiating with the applicant regarding these matters with a view to asking if the applicant/developer will consider any amendments to the plans submitted,” he said.

“Residents who provided submissions for consideration in respect to this proposal in its current form will be kept informed of any outcomes of this process as and if required. If any substantial changes are proposed to the original plans, a re-exhibition will occur.

Council is also in the process of organising an online community meeting to allow the applicant/developer to address the public concerns. It is hoped that this will occur in early to late November 2020.”

Mr Butler said residents who provided submissions for consideration in respect to this proposal will be formally notified of the meeting and given the opportunity to address the meeting either by presenting to the meeting or by submission of questions to the applicant prior to the public meeting.

“Council is seeking further advice on the best way to host this forum in line with COVID-19 requirements, and to ensure the best possible chance for both the submission writers, and the applicant/developer, the chance to present their cases,” he said.

“Community feedback and engagement is important to Council and we look forward to continuing to work together to achieve positive outcomes for Federation Council communities.”
