Council's Ageing Well Strategy 2018-2022(PDF, 2MB) has been adopted at the June Council Meeting, following months of working closely with the community.

The strategy sets Council's priorities for working with senior residents over the next four years and incorporates actions which address eight inter-connected themes including outdoor spaces and buildings, transportation, housing, social participation, respect and social inclusion, civic participation and employment, communication and information, and community and health services.

This extensive consultation process undertaken to develop the strategy has ensured it is as responsive as possible to the needs of older residents. Local ambassadors were engaged to drive the engagement phase, which included a series of focus groups, community surveys and interviews with service providers to set the direction and determine what should be included.

The strategy outlines what our senior resident’s wants and needs are over the next four years and identifies the ways in which Council can work with the community and other project partners to help achieve them

Council would like to acknowledge and thank the following Ageing Well Ambassadors who have played an important role in developing the strategy: Liz Seeliger, Jan Doyle, Stanley Bromley, Ida Mensforth, Wendy Eyers, Judith Barber, Jenny Enever, Mike Gardiner, Jenny Hearn, Yvonne Perrin, Jeanette Smith and Councillor Gail Law.
