The process to appoint three new director positions for Federation Council is on track, following a confidential discussion at Council’s monthly meeting yesterday.

The imminent selections follow council’s new organisation structure as announced last November and is to be effective upon Directors commencing in the three new positions.

Federation Council’s new organisation structure resulted in the same number of Director positions but with a realignment of services based on an organisational review conducted with Councillors and staff in 2018.

The director corporate and community services role, currently occupied by Kristy Kay, and the Director Finance and Organization Development role of Kim Parker, are to become one director’s role and titled ‘Director Corporate and Community Services’.

The Director Infrastructure and Environment position - currently occupied in an acting capacity by Steve Carmichael - is to become two positions of director: ‘Director Development and Environment’, and ‘Director Engineering Services’.

General Manager Adrian Butler said he was pleased that the recruitment process was on schedule and expected an announcement to be made in the coming weeks.

“With the assistance of the appointed recruitment agency, Local Government Management Solutions, and Council, interviews have already been conducted with shortlisted candidates,” Mr Butler said.

“In the last week, Council has made offers to preferred candidates and has begun contract negotiations. This has been an important process that Council has undertaken and one we are looking forward to being able to provide a final outcome on in the coming weeks.”

Federation Council was required to review its organisational structure within 12 months following the September 2017 election but may also review the structure at any time.
