June 2025

Council has an ongoing program of capital works and upgrades to buildings, parks, playgrounds and roads across the Federation Council Region. The following activities were undertaken during June 2025 by Federation Council’s Operations Works teams. 

Table Drain Maintenance 

Clearing table drains on rural roads and customer requests as received.

Sealed Roads

Numerous customer requests for pothole repairs on sealed urban and rural roads have been received(after recent rainfall)with many actioned with the Corowa based Flo-Con patching truck and the Urana based Jet Master patching truck.40 ton of stone alone was used by the Urana jet-patcher.

In particular the main focus has still been in the following areas Skehans Lane, Merton Road, Emu Park Road, Bull Plain Road, Savernake Road, Hopefield Road, Federation Way South, Oaklands, Morundah and other areas and townships.

Slashing – Sealed Roads Shoulders

Slashing is finished in Rand and will now move to Federation Way.

Quarries

  • Balldale – Crushing has started of 19,000 tons of material ready for Council’s gravel road re-sheeting program.
  • Davies Hill – Carting gravel for should re-sheeting.

Maintenance Crew/Sundry Crew

  • Flood sign & depth marker installation.
  • Culvert cleaning/repairs.
  • Footpath maintenance/repairs.
  • Sign replacements/repairs.
  • Various guide Post replacements.
  • Working with construction crews when required.
  • Attending to customer requests. 

Sapling Removal Program from Rural Drains 

Works completed in:

This program is stage 2 of stage 4.

  • Hopefield Siding Road.
  • Narrow Plains Road.
  • Emu Park Road.
  • Oak Lodge Road.
  • Norwonga Road & Mulwala Road.
  • Corowa-Oaklands Road from Federation Way to Oaklands.

There are currently 3 roads to complete and will commence this week. The list of roads are as follows:

  • Jerilderie -Oaklands Road.
  • Back Berrigan Road.
  • Clear Hills Road.
These critical works ensure that Council’s drainage network is not impeded in the future by large trees.

 

Heavy Trucks

  • Carting gravel for Mahonga Road, Kindra Street and Five Mile Road.
  • Carting gravel for customer requests.
  • Carting gravel to Buraja Road for shoulder works.
  • Carting gravel to sections for re-sheeting Daysdale Wallbundrie Road.
  • Carting stone for patching trucks, Flocon and Jetmaster

     

Resealing Program

Due to the cold weather, Council’s resealing program will now cease till next summer.

 

Line Marking Program

Program completed for this financial year.

TfNSW – RMCC 

Maintenance works under the RMCC agreement. Works undertaken including tree maintenance, signage, pothole patching and various other tasks.

Corowa Aerodrome 

  • Twice weekly inspections carried out to ensure compliance with the MOS 139. 
  • Repairs to lights as required.

Construction 1 & 2

  • Balldale Railway Street, Balldale - Pedestrian Improvements near Hotel and park.
  • Storm water minor repairs, urban and rural roads.
  • Footpath repairs and gravel patching in urban unsealed roads.
  • Table drain maintenance, drainage and culvert works, urban and rural roads.
  • Footpath maintenance and repairs.
  • Attend Call Outs.
  • Service numerous Customer Requests.
