Book Week Colouring Competition

Hey young artists! Get ready to unleash your creativity by celebrating Book Week with our Federation Council Libraries colouring competition! 

This year's Children’s Book Week’s exciting theme is “Symphony of Stories.” The illustrator of this year’s theme said ‘I decided to try and show what stepping into a symphony of stories might be like. A huge colourful collection of characters bursting out of a book representing their different stories with weird and wonderful instruments.’ – Briony Stewart. And what better way to celebrate than to create our own rendition with our very own colouring competition! 

The competition aims to spark imagination and encourage a love for reading and the arts within our community. We're offering some fantastic incentives for budding artists, with prizes to be announced for the winner of each of the three age categories: 0-5 years, 6-9 years, and 10-13 years.

Here's how to join the adventure:

Colouring sheets will be distributed to local schools and will be available for pickup starting Thursday, 6 August. You'll have plenty of time to perfect your masterpiece, as entries will close promptly at 5pm on Tuesday 1 September, 2026.

A special condition for entry this year is library membership. We encourage all participants to be current members of the library. If you're not yet a member, don't worry! "How to Join the Library" forms will be readily available alongside the colouring competition entry forms. Becoming a library member opens up a world of knowledge, entertainment, and, of course, countless adventures through books! 

Judging will be conducted by library staff and dedicated Friends of the Library volunteers, who are eager to see the vibrant and imaginative interpretations of the "Symphony of Stories" theme.

So, gather your art supplies, imagine a symphony of colour, and get ready to colour your way to some fantastic prizes!
