The Corowa Friends of the Library have recently purchased a Storytime Pod for the Corowa Library.

The Storytime Pod is the world’s first storytelling machine for children. It offers a digital storytelling solution, which has over 200 short, high quality digital books with stories in seven languages. Children are engaged, entertained and educated all at the same time.

Federation Council Mayor, Cr Patrick Bourke said volunteers play a vital role in our community supporting many services that Council delivers.  It is fantastic to see that such a passionate group of people raising funds to purchase the new Storytime Pod for the Corowa Library.

“When the children enter the library you can see that they are drawn to the Pod. They take a seat, start tapping at the screen and before you know it they are watching and listening as a story is read aloud.”

“It entertains the children while providing an engaging reading and learning experience that both children and parents enjoy.”

“The Corowa Friends of the Library play an important part in the success of the library. They engage with the community to promote the library service and raise funds for special projects. They also deliver a Home Library Service where housebound residents may have Library items delivered directly to their residence and they also record The Talking Free Press newspaper onto CD,” he said.

The Australian made and owned Storytime Pods are finding their way to libraries, hospitals and airports around the world.

The Friends of the library would like to thank the community in supporting their fundraising activities and look forward to the continued support in the future. The main fundraising activities are the annual Book Sale and local raffles.
