Spring is here and while you are spring cleaning out your house or shed, make sure you are disposing of items correctly.

Many familiar products you use in your home, car, garage and shed can be hazardous to other people and the environment. Because of this, they can’t go into your red, yellow and green lidded bins.

These include:

  • Batteries (household & car)
  • Motor and other oils
  • Paint
  • Smoke detectors
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Gas bottles
  • Fluro lights

Once you no longer have a use for them, they become Household Problem Waste. If disposed of incorrectly, or released into the environment, these products can pollute our soil, contaminate our water and even cause physical harm to people and animals.

Many of these materials can be reused and recycled if processed correctly. Recycling helps our environment because it saves water, energy and natural resources.

You can dispose of many household problem waste at your local Community Recycling Centre for FREE.

  • Corowa Community Recycling Centre is located at the Corowa Depot, Poseidon Road.
  • Urana Community Recycling Centre is located at Urana Waste Disposal Centre, Boree Creek Road.
