Federation Council has resolved to award the contract to construct the Ball Park Multisport Pavilion at Corowa, to local builders, David Lane of Corowa, for the lump sum of $314,600 including GST.
The tender report was considered in a closed session at Council’s October Ordinary Meeting, due to commercially in-confidence information under Section 10 of the Local Government Act 1993.
Federation Council Mayor, Cr Patrick Bourke said, “Council is thrilled to continue to progress these new community facility projects. The Multisport Pavilion will replace ageing facilities located at the eastern end of the Corowa Pool building, that have been utilized by both the Corowa Cricket Club and Corowa Rutherglen United Hockey Club for their respective club events. This will provide a modern facility that meets all requirements and is another great addition to this area. This is of course an area already very well regarded across the region, for its playing surfaces for both Hockey and Cricket.”
“Construction will commence on site following the completion of demolition, electrical and water main works in the immediate area over the coming weeks. This work will be completed by Council to assist with this and other projects in the surrounding area. The design is complimentary to the new Swimming Pool complex building to be constructed nearby as part of the new Pool complex.”
“Corowa has strong participation levels and results in these sports, and are proud of our very successful Cricket and Hockey clubs, and Council looks forward to seeing continued growth in both Cricket and Hockey numbers once this new facility is open,” the Mayor said.
This project has been largely funded through the NSW Government Stronger Country Communities following a grant application prepared and lodged by the Corowa Cricket Club and supported by Council.
Council looks forward to providing regular progress updates to the community during construction of the new Multisport Pavilion.
