Inspections

Businesses or persons providing hairdressing, barber, beauty, body piercing and tattooing services are regularly inspected by an Environmental Health Officer to ensure they compliant with legislation that governs hygiene and safety requirements.  There is an annual registration and inspection fee which covers Council’s expenses to administer these requirements and undertake an inspection.

Routine inspections are conducted around the same time of the year each year. Inspections are normally booked with the business to ensure they are not in an appointment with a client. Follow-up inspections occur as necessary. The Environmental Health Officer may also conduct an inspection upon receipt of a complaint from a member of the public.

If you have missed your routine inspection or you have just opened a hair, beauty or skin penetration business, book a health inspection by completing the online form and your request will be sent to the Environmental Health Officer.
