Alternatives to Roadside Collection

Residents who rely on wood heaters for warmth can:

  • Collect firewood on private property with permission from the owner; or
  • Purchase wood from a reputable supplier.

There are also NSW Forestry Corporation and National Parks and Wildlife land within the region that you may be able to collect wood with a permit.  See more information below.

Forestry areas

There are collection areas that operate during certain times of the year which are controlled by the NSW Forestry Corporation.  Permits are required before collection. See the NSW Forestry Corporation website to find out where and when you can collect firewood and to download the permit application form.

National and State Parks

There are some areas controlled by National Parks and Wildlife that allow collection of firewood for domestic use.  Permits are required before collection.  See the National Parks and Wildlife website to find out where and when you can collect firewood and to download the permit application form.
