John Foord Bridge temporary closure

Transport for NSW has advised that the John Foord Bridge will be closed for two days from 6am on Wednesday 3 December to 6pm on Thursday 4 December, 2025  weather permitting. 

The community can expect: 

• the bridge to be fully closed both days between these times. 
• a detour via Federation Bridge to be in place during this time. 
• reduced speed limits in the area.
• notice about detours and closures provided on signage at the bridge and on Live Traffic.
• the pedestrian path across the bridge to remain open under traffic control.
• no impact to the recreation area along the riverbank outside the work area.

The bridge upgrade involves replacing piers and carrying out maintenance on the NSW side of the bridge. Resurfacing of the approach road to the bridge is also being undertaken.

This is one of six temporary bridge closures planned through to June 2026.
