Parking Regulations

Sanger Street Corowa looking north
At Council, our goal for parking compliance is simple: we want to keep our streets safe, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone in our community. Responsible parking helps maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and ensures pathways are open for pedestrians.

Key Parking Rules to Remember

Please be aware of common parking rules. You may receive a fine if your vehicle is found:

  • On a Path or Nature Strip: These areas are for pedestrians and infrastructure, not vehicles.

  • In a Restricted Zone: Parking in a 'No Parking' or 'No Stopping' zone is strictly prohibited for safety reasons.

  • Near an Intersection: Parked within 10 metres of an intersection (unless signed otherwise) severely obstructs the view for other drivers.

  • Heavy/Long Vehicles: Parked for more than one hour in a built-up area (if the vehicle exceeds heavy or long vehicle limits).

We encourage all residents and visitors to please park responsibly and follow the road rules. By doing so, you contribute directly to the safety and amenity of our towns.

Parking Fines Reporting

In accordance with the Fines Amendment (Parking Fines) Act 2024 and the Fines Amendment (Parking Fines) Regulation 2025, Federation Council is required to report on parking fines issued each quarter.

These reports are detailed in the tabs at the bottom of this page.

Background on Legislative Changes

The NSW Government’s reforms to the parking fine system, which came into effect on 1 July 2025, require councils to:

  • Attach a parking fine or notification to the vehicle (except in limited circumstances).
  • Provide photographic evidence of the offence to Revenue NSW.
  • Issue fines within seven days of the offence if no notification was attached.
  • Publicly report data on parking fines issued.

These changes aim to restore fairness and transparency to the parking fine system across NSW.

Federation Council will continue to monitor the implementation of these reforms and provide quarterly updates as required.

Quarter 1 Report: July – September 2025

Federation Council did not issue any parking fines during the first quarter of the 2025/2026 financial year (July 1 - September 30, 2025).

This  outcome reflects Council's continuous commitment to a strategy focused on proactive community engagement and education regarding parking rules, prioritising compliance through understanding rather than immediate enforcement.
